Smart House Kit for micro:bit

Introduction

This smart house kit allows students to build a smart home based on learning engineering knowledge, operational thinking, and simple programming, combined with artistic creative elements, to create a unique smart home.

In the 21st century, smart homes are becoming more popular and important. This set can raise students’ awareness, improve human life, and save energy. Students use 7 types of sensors and 7 types of drivers by building paper house models, and learn how to assemble and build models to make their own ideal smart home.

Accessories

The instruction manual is included with the kit, convenient for teachers and students to make.

Multiple Sensor and Actuator Board

The smart city kit works with Smarthon’s IoT:bit WiFi extension board to create different IoT projects.
Multiple Sensor (Smart House)
Multiple Actuator (Smart House)

Smart Home Projects

Have you ever imagined how to design your own smart home? This set can produce at least 6 smart home projects. The following are some reference examples. The coverage can be divided into 5 categories, including automation, security, entertainment, personal wellness and energy management.

REMOTE CONTROL CURTAIN
Use two micro:bit motherboards to send and receive signals, remote control curtain switch.
GAS LEAK ALARM
Use gas sensors to learn how to make kitchen safety systems.
AUTOMATIC DOOR
Assemble a button to control the door automatic switch.
ANTI-THEFT ALARM
Use pedestrian sensors and buzzers to create an intelligent alarm system to ensure home safety.
ENERGY-SAVING LIGHT
Use a light sensor to sense the intensity of sunlight, automatically adjust the lighting system.
THERMAL FAN
Establish an automated fan system to create a comfortable home environment.

Smart House Scenario

Scenario example 1: House model (Automation)

This model is using the house shape as a house. The main function is focusing on automation including microbit controlling motor fan, curtain etc. In the meantime, when the housekeeper come back to the house, the light will be turned on automictically.

Scenario example 2: Open style model (House safety & Energy saving)

It is a open style design which easier to let student design different smart function in rooms like kitchen, room, living room etc. In the kitchen, there are flame alert detecting function and motor fan. In the meantime, there is auto-LED in the room and temperature-adjusting system in the living room.

The above are examples only, you can using the paper model in the kit set or design your own smart house model. You can combine different cases from the kit set and build your dream house!

Product Features

Learning the knowledge of a smart home as the main focus

All accessories are for smart home learning. Mainly about the knowledge of a smart home, programming as the second priority. Cultivate students to improve their lives. Integrate STEM elements into regular courses. The package is designed with the curriculum as the main axis, mainly to learn the curriculum rather than other technical knowledge.

Simple programming

Use mainstream hardware Micro:bit motherboard, compatible with Micro: bit Makecode platform to facilitate teaching. The set is easy to use. The motherboard is a sensor computer, which directly reads the data. It is convenient to observe the data changes. A total of 13 kinds of sensors/drivers are enough to complete a variety of creative projects. The extension set includes 4 additional components.

Easy to use and learn

This course package uses “multiple sensor” and “multiple actuator”. The set is easy to use. The mainboard is a sensor computer, which directly reads the data, which is convenient for observing the data changes.

Complete teaching resources

Including lesson plan, teacher PPT, and student notes.

Teaching Resources

Lesson Plan

The kit contains 8 detailed lesson plans and sets out the focus of each lesson’s learning content, required materials, time distribution and teaching methods.

Teacher Teaching PPT

The PPT used by teachers can help them lead classroom processes and activities, reduce the burden of designing teaching materials, and make them better in STEM teaching.

Student Notes

Student notes include lesson learning and knowledge points with detailed experimental steps, making it easier for students to follow the course pace and revisit the content after returning home; at the same time, students can copy their own notes in the classroom to encourage them to study independently; There are also more challenging questions to cater for students of different levels.
